Both categories climbed 7 percent and 6 percent last year, the association found. Most types of remodeling projects have bounced back from the historic lows of 2010.
“As the country’s financial footing improves, clients are better able to realize their home design dreams,” said NAHB Remodelers Chairman Robert Criner, GMR, GMB, CAPS, a remodeler from Newport News, Va. “While remodels prompted by repairs remain common, homeowners have more discretionary funds available for upgrades, so better style, comfort and safety motivate more home improvement projects.”
Window-door replacement, whole-house remodels, room additions and property damage repairs followed bathroom and kitchen projects as the most popular kinds of remodeling jobs.
